How to Get a Grimoire in Clover Time

Your Grimoire is the heart of combat in Clover Time. Until you roll one at the Grimoire Tower, you are stuck with basic tools in a game built around Black Clover–style magic. This guide covers how to reach the tower from Hage Village, how Mana Crystals work, where to farm them, how pity protects unlucky streaks, and when to keep versus reroll. Reach the Grimoire Tower

The tower is the only place that matters for Grimoire gacha. From Hage Village you have two reliable routes:

1. Finral teleport — Find Finral in the starting village and use his teleport option to jump closer to the tower. This is the fastest path for new players.
2. Compass travel — Summon your broom with H (after the broom quest) or walk. Point your compass between 105 and 120 and keep moving forward until the tower appears.

If broom flight is still locked, finish the broom quest first — the Getting Started checklist explains where it sits in the early loop. Flying turns a long hike into a short commute and helps you spot world chests on the way.

Spend Mana Crystals to roll

Grimoire spins cost Mana Crystals. Interact with the rolling point inside the tower, confirm you have enough crystals, watch the animation, and equip the result. Your first crystal stash may come from tutorial progress, world loot, or code redemptions — claim codes before you burn scarce crystals on impulse.

Rolling is a gacha: rarity and magic type both vary. Community PvE rankings (subject to patches) currently place Anti-Magic and Poison at the top for move variety and damage, with Ice, Explosive Flame, and Battle Lightning as strong alternatives. Lower bands such as Chain, Water, Snow, Earth, and Fire can still clear early content even if their combos feel weaker. Always re-check tier-list/grimoires after AnimeCore balance notes on Updates.

Pity thresholds — Epic, Legendary, Mythical

The tower tracks pity so endless Commons are less likely forever:

• Epic pity around 35 rolls
• Legendary pity around 70 rolls
• Mythical pity around 175 rolls

Treat these as planning tools. If you are a handful of rolls from Epic pity, it may be smarter to farm a few more crystals than to quit on a mediocre Rare. Conversely, if you just hit a strong Epic/Legendary that matches a Best Builds plan, stop spinning and play the game — pity progress is valuable, but so is actually clearing quests.

Exact UI counters can shift in beta; if a patch renames or retunes pity, trust in-game text and the Updates hub over outdated screenshots.

How to farm Mana Crystals

Crystals (and the fragments that craft into them) come from several loops. Mix them instead of relying on one:

Chests and open-world pickups

Explore with the broom. Chests and ground spawns are the most direct crystal sources and reward players who leave the village roads. Make a habit of sweeping side paths when traveling between quests.

Mana Wolves and fragment crafting

Defeat Mana Wolves and similar enemies for fragments. Craft those fragments into Mana Crystals at the appropriate crafting flow. This is the active combat farm — good when you also need combat practice with your current Grimoire skills (E / R / Z / X / C, plus G for Anti-Magic awakening when applicable). Fishing craft chain

Buy a fishing rod, fish in any workable water, and convert useful catches into fragment/crystal crafting. Fishing is slower than optimized combat farms but excellent for low-stress sessions and AFK-friendly play. Some catches are especially valuable for Mana Crystal fragment crafting — prioritize those when your goal is more tower spins.

Codes and misc rewards

Codes regularly grant Mana Crystals, chests, or spins tied to community milestones. Boss drops and other gameplay rewards can also feed the same pool. Always redeem before a long farm session so you do not overgrind for currency you already claimed.

Keep, reroll, or wait?

Decision rules that work in beta:

• Keep a Grimoire that is already top-tier for your goals (for example Anti-Magic or Poison for PvE) even if rarity is not Mythical.
• Soft keep mid-tier magic if it lets you clear the next quest gate; farm crystals passively while you progress.
• Reroll clearly weak kits once you have a crystal surplus and are not one pity tick from a rarity breakpoint you care about.

After your first Grimoire

Equip the book, learn its skill keys in a safe area, then return to Hage quests. Push gathering so crystal income never fully stops. When ready, tackle bosses, join squads, and use AFK World for longer material sessions.
